- Overall hotel performance continues to be hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- In HCMC, ADR of 4-5-star hotels recorded at US$72.4/room/night, decreased by 20.6% y-o-y in 2021 . However, there was an increase in occupancy rate of 28.5%, up 3.6 ppts y-o-y.
- ADR of Hanoi 4-5-star hotels in 2021 was US$95.5/room/night, decreased by 5.7% y-o-y. The occupancy rate was also recorded a decline of 30.6%, down 4.5 ppts y-o-y
- After more than 24 months closing the borders, Vietnam has welcomed the first foreign visitors since November 2021.
- Seven local areas have been piloted to welcome international tourists (from North to South): Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang – Phu Quoc island city.
- Vietnam has resumed international flights to nine countries in January 2022 including the United States, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan.
- Vietnam hits 79.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines with more than 80% of the population have been vaccinated, in which, around 79% of Vietnamese people have been fully vaccinated.
