Vietnam ‘on the target’ of international retailers

According to CBRE Vietnam’s report “Liveliness of retail markets in Asia – Pacific 2014”, youthful population, high after-tax income growth and widespread retail networks are main factors making Hanoi and HCMC be named among top attractive retail market to international retailers. Jonathan Hsu, director of CBRE Research, Asia Pacific, noted that international retailers tend to expand to secondary cities in the region after establishing their presence in capital or tier I cities. Thus, Key emerging markets in Southeast Asia, such as Ha Noi and HCM City in Viet Nam and major cities in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, will be a strong area of focus due to the growing appetite for consumer goods and relaxation of foreign investment regulations next year.
