Wellness resort group comes to Phu Quoc

Fusion, a wellness resort and hotel chain, has launched its sixth property for relaxation and rejuvenation on Phu Quoc Island.The 20ha resort opened in June in Vung Bau Beach in the north of the island.
Its 97 villas were built using natural coastal materials and by drawing inspiration from the island’s traditional architecture and fishing culture. They range from one- to five-bedroom for solo travelers, couples, families or groups of friends travelling together, each with a private pool and garden.

MPI proposes permanent residence cards for foreign investors on Phu Quoc

Vietnam may issue permanent residence cards to foreign investors on Phu Quoc Island under a draft law on special administrative zones submitted to the government by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
MPI proposes a series of mechanisms in the draft to attract investment capital and foreign experts to live and work in the Phu Quoc economic zone.

Vietnam finance ministry proposes raising VAT from 10 to 12 percent

Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance is looking to amend multiple tax laws in the country, including a proposal to raise the current value-added tax (VAT) rate from ten to 12 percent. According to the finance ministry’s announcement on Tuesday, the amended VAT law would impose a six-percent VAT on services and goods currently enjoying a VAT of five percent, and raise the across-the-board ten-percent VAT to 12 percent. A number of VAT-free goods such as fertilizers, agricultural equipments and off-shore fishing vessels would also begin to be taxed under the new law, the ministry added.

JHC arrives in Vietnam

A representative from JHC said that Vietnam’s home appliances market is huge and growing rapidly, and that its population is quite young and getting married, which present sound opportunities to develop the home appliances market.

Banyan Tree Group explores investment in Ha Giang province

The Banyan Tree Group conducted a fact-finding tour to Ha Giang from August 8-10 to study the building of super luxury hotels in the locality. After visiting popular destinations in Ha Giang, the group showed special interests in areas of Nam Dam Lake in Quan Ba district, and Ma Pi Leng Pass in Meo Vac district. At a working session with local authorities on August 10, Director of the group’s project Phan Chi proposed the province build roads to these selected areas and hand over clean land to investors as well as ensure the provision of electricity and water and support the group to build resorts according to local architectures.

Quang Binh to have the world's longest Zipline


Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee has approved the detailed planning task of building the world's longest zipline system and a combination of  world class tourism products of Phu Sa Do Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. Accordingly, the detailed planning area is on an area of 35 hectares in Chay Lap village (Phuc Trach commune, Bo Trach district).

Vietnam: Dragon Capital, VinaCapital pick 30% of FPT Retail

Vietnamese tech conglomerate FPT Corporation has offloaded 30 per cent equity interest in its FPT Digital Retail JSC subsidiary to two asset managers, Dragon Capital and VinaCapital, it announced on Friday. Meanwhile, VinaCapital also said in its own statement that the mobile device distributor was selling 35 per cent shares to a few institutional investors. That makes VinaCapital’s Vietnam Opportunity Fund (VOF) and Dragon Capital the largest buyers in this financing.

Hanoi plans to build 25 lakes to deal with the pressure of seasonal floods

From 2016 to 2020, Hanoi is planning to build and add 25 more lakes in the inner-city area. This plan will ease the pressure of seasonal floods by heavy rains in the city.


Northern Van Phong will be planned into a special administrative-economic unit


Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc allowed Khanh Hoa province to organize the elaboration of the master plan for socio-economic development and the adjustment of the general planning on construction of Northern Van Phong area. This area will be planed into a special administrative-economic unit. Van Phong Economic Zone has a total area of about 150,000 hectares, including 70,000 land surface, the rest is the water surface. It is located in Ninh Hoa Town and Van Ninh District, northern Khanh Hoa.
