Singapore developers 'can build on Viet market potential'​

Keppel Land, for instance, entered into a joint venture to develop a prime 14.6ha waterfront site in Ho Chi Minh City's Thu Thiem New Urban Area this week.

Challenges lie ahead for VN economic growth

Property prices are skyrocketing along HCM City's proposed metro lines. According to Tuoi tre (Youth) newspaper, there are around 45,000 units in a series of apartment projects along' the eight planned metro lines. Along line No 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) around 6,000 units are under construction and likely to be handed over in the next two to three years. In the last 12 months around 20 medium- and high-priced projects have been launched along line No. 3A, 5, and 6.

Vietnam: Vingroup acquires 30% of furniture firm, Sun Group to invest in two properties​

Vietnam based property developers have rolled out new plays. Vingroup plans to finish its acquisition of 30 per cent stake in Truong Thanh Corp – a company that produces wood furniture – through loan conversion. Last week, the Vietnam Railways (VNR) and Sun Group inked a deal to develop the VND2.73 trillion ($121.9 million) mix-used complex which they called “a five-star building”. The two firms will form a joint venture, in which VNR will hold nearly 23.1 per cent by contributing its land use right

Singapore’s Keppel Land picks 40% in Empire City Ltd from Gaw Capital

Singapore’s Keppel Land Limited has acquired 40 per cent stake in Empire City Limited Liability Company, which is developing Vietnam’s tallest mixed-used project, from the latter’s joint venture partners for $93.9 million. Following the transaction, Hong Kong-based real estate private equity fund Gaw Capital Partners will have 30 per cent in the venture while two Vietnamese partners Tien Phuoc Real Estate JSC and Tran Thai Real Estate Co Ltd, will jointly own 30 per cent, local media reported.

Modern hospital complex with 600 beds to be built in Western Hanoi

On February 25th Chairman of Hanoi Nguyen Duc Chung has issued Decision No. 931/QD-CUBND approving the detailed planning Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi and Leprosy Treatment Area, with scale 1/500 in Dong Yen commune, Quoc Oai district, Hanoi. The hospital will be built on an area of ​​nearly 29.5 ha, located in the green corridor with low building density. This will be a center of high-quality medical care with high technology and advanced techniques in order to meet the needs of city health care and medical research. Sun Group eyes another domestic airport: report​

Real estate conglomerate Sun Group has sought the Ministry of Transport's permission to build an airport in the northern highlands province of Lao Cai, home to the famous Sa Pa town. The transport ministry has planned for a 261-hectare airport in Lao Cai’s Bao Yen District. To cost an estimated VND1.3 trillion (US$57.46 million), it will have one runway and space to park two Airbus A320s or other similar aircraft, and handle 560,000 passengers and 600 tons of goods a year when opened in 2020. It will later be expanded to handle more than 1.5 million passengers a year.

Work begins to link Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway with Sa Pa

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pressed a button to launch a project to connect the Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway with touristy Sa Pa town in northern Lao Cai province on February 27.At a cost of over VND2.5 trillion (US$112.5 million), the project will build a four-lane provincial road crossing Sa Pa and Bat Xat district and Lao Cai city and upgrade existing highway 4D.

International tourists to Viet Nam in February increase 20%​

According to the General Statistics Office, Viet Nam welcomed approximately 833,598 international tourist arrivals in February 2016, increasing 3.5% over previous month and 20% compared to the same period last year. In the first two months, the number of domestic trippers estimated 14.2 million which included 6.8 million overnight guests; total tourism receipts reached VND80,680 billion, up 19% over the same period last year.
