Kinh Bac Corp. starts construction of Trang Cat township

The $70 million complex is a cooperation project between Kinh Bac City and Taiwanese company Foxconn. The township, with area of 790.79 hectares, is located near Cat Bi airport and right next to the end of the Hanoi-Haiphong expressway. When the whole of the expressway is open for traffic, it is going to take less than one hour to drive here from Hanoi so Hanoi residents can invest in a vacation home here.

Vietnam’s high-end hotel occupancy down, but room rates slightly up in 2014

High-end hotels in Vietnam saw room rates inch up while occupancy dropped due to fiercer competition in 2014, a recently released survey found. Despite the statistics, the survey this year showed an increase in the proportion of international guests staying in 4- and 5-star hotels, at 83 percent, 3.4 percent higher than 2013, Kenneth Atkinson, executive chairman of Grant Thornton Vietnam, said at a press conference to release the survey in Ho Chi Minh City on July 3. According to the findings, the occupancy rates of 4- and 5-star hotels nationwide averaged 60.7 percent in 2014, down two percent compared with 2013.

Two Vietnamese hotels – Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi and Park Hyatt Saigon have been ranked 61st and 68st respectively among the Top 100 World’s Best Hotels by the US magazine Travel + Leisure. In addition, the capital city of Hanoi and HCM city are also on the top 10 list best Asian cities.

Vingroup want to invest in Da Nang railway station

Vingroup has proposed a build-transfer form (BT) for the relocation and construction of the new Da Nang railway station, supported by the socialization policy of Ministry of Transport. City plans road through Can Gio forests

Can Gio wants the road, called Lam Vien-Dong Dinh, to be developed to support the development of the city’s river tours as well as eco-tourism in the outlying district. Earlier, the HCMC government gave the nod to the road project, which costs nearly VND190 billion. The road is designed to have a length of nearly 3,500 meters and claim around 6.4 hectares of mangrove forest.

State Bank lifts lending ceiling

The State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV) has allowed some lenders to raise their credit growth ceiling this year in a move to boost economic growth, according to Thoi bao Ngan hang (Banking Times). The lending ceiling of Vietcombank and Vietin-Bank has been raised to 16 per cent, while the figure for SeaBank and TPBank is 35 per cent. The ceiling of Tech-combank and LienViet-PostBank was lifted to 30 per cent. This is the fourth year that the central bank has fixed a credit growth ceiling for each bank.
