Experts see inflation target beyond reach​

Experts attending a seminar in Hanoi yesterday were of the opinion that Vietnam may miss this year's target of keeping inflation below 5% as June's consumer price index (CPI) jumped 2.35% versus December 2015 and grew 1.72% on average in the first half. Speaking at the seminar on markets and prices in the January-June period, Le Quoc Phuong, deputy director of the Trade and Industry Information Center under the Ministry of lndustry and Trade, said inflation had partly been influenced by higher health service fees and basic wages. Commodity prices have bounced back slightly since February. Besides, unfavorable weather had hit agricultural production, thus leading food and foodstuff supplies to slump.

Property and bank stocks boost markets

Vietnamese shares advanced in the early session, led by banks and real estate companies. The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange rose 1.5% to close at 668.72 points. The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange ended at 87.12 points, up 0.9% from the previous day. The real estate sector was the strongest gainer in the early session, led by Vinaconex Investment and Tourism Development JSC (VCR) and Tan Tao Industrial Investment JSC (ITA). They surged 7.1% and 4.8%, respectively. VIC and FLC jumped 4.8% and 3.4% respectively and KBC added 1.2%.

Hanoi to issue land certificate online

July 31: Deo Ca tunnel to open to traffic

Deo Ca Tunnel linking the central provinces of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa will be opened to traffic on July 31 after four years of construction. The opening date was decided during Deputy Minister of Transport Le DinhTho's trip to the construction site, according to a report released by the ministry. Deo Ca Investment Joint Stock Company said contractors are building a road section inside the tunnel and installing equipment. The project is scheduled to be put into use on July 31, two months ahead of schedule. The investor said it takes vehicles just over 10 minutes to pass through in the tunnel, instead of traveling around 45 minutes on the pass. Moreover, vehicles using the tunnel can avoid rockslides, which often occur in the rainy season. Deo Ca Tunnel will help boost trade and tourism in the central region in addition to creating a link between Phu Yen's Nam Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa's Van Phong. HCMC proposes to build a bridge to replace Cat Lai ferry

The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just sought the Government’s approval for a project to build a bridge to replace the Cat Lai ferry to be included in the city’s transport development master plan towards 2020 with a vision after 2020. The project aims to ease the load of the Cat Lai ferry, which is a key link in the route from HCM City’s eastern areas to Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces. The project will be implemented with the build-operate-transfer (BOT) method by the 194 Construction Investment Corporation at a total estimated cost of over VND 5.7 trillion (USD 256.5 million). [The original article is available in Vietnamese only.]

Hanoi to construct 6 new coach terminals in urban centers​

Under the Hanoi’s Master Transport Plan for 2030, the city will build several new interprovincial coach terminals in urban centers and satellite urban areas: Yen Nghia Terminal in Ha Dong District across 7 ha of land, North-eastern Terminal in Gia Lam District on 10ha, Southern Terminal in Thanh Tri District on 11 ha, Dong Anh Terminal in Dong Anh District on 5.3 ha, as well as Western Terminal in Quoc Oai District on 7ha and Northern Terminal in Soc Son District on 7 ha. The city will also upgrade several terminals, including My Dinh, Nuoc Ngam, Giap Bat, Gia Lam and Thuong Tin.

First Vincom Plaza shopping mall breaks ground in Dong Thap

Construction on Vincom Plaza shopping complex, the first of its kind in the southern province of Dong Thap, began in Cao Lanh city, on July 11. The five-story mall, will gather famous brands in fashion, consumer goods, cuisine at home and abroad, a recreational area for children, and a modern cinema across a site of over 12,000 sq.m.  Managed by Vingroup’s Vincom Retail, which currently operates 25 shopping malls nationwide, Vincom Plaza Cao Lanh is expected to be operational in April 2017 as the most modern in the Mekong Delta.

Flat solar glass group invests USD 200 mil in Hai Phong

The Hai Phong Industrial Zone Management Board has granted an investment license to Flat Group from Hong Kong (China) for a solar glass factory worth USD 200 million. The factory will cover 21.8 ha in the Dinh Vu Industrial Park. It is expected to put into operation in late 2017 with the capacity of producing about 580,000 tons of solar glass each year.
