Defense ministry wants 3,000 apartments in Ba Son area

The Ministry of Defense expects the investor of Saigon-Ba Son complex project will sell around 3,000 apartments in the project in the Ba Son shipyard to families affected by cityscape embellishment projects in District 1. The ministry earlier requested the Government to pick HCMC Commercial Service Joint Stock Company as the investor of the Ba Son area after Ba Son shipyard is relocated.

Disbursements in home loan program still low

Just a quarter of the VND30 trillion (US$1.37 billion) the Government approved for a home loan program benefiting low-income people has been disbursed though the program was launched two years ago to support the sluggish real estate market. To speed up disbursements of the VND30 trillion program, relevant administering agencies will order local authorities to simplify procedures and shorten the approval time for low-cost apartment projects.

HCMC: Projects with favourable position have no construction

From 2007, HCMC has given some “gold” and “diamond” land plots in centre area to developing big scale projects. However, the developers are using these lands just for parking or selling beverage. Only three in total 20 projects are under construction, the others have been delayed for many years. In the near future, HCMC will review all these projects, which have capabilities of developing should make a commitment to construct soon, which cannot do that should be revoked for finding new developers. Highway to connect HCM City to border

The proposed express way would link the city's Thu Duc District with Moc Bai Border Gate in the southern Tay Ninh province that borders Cambodia. It will have 84.5 km in length and 15 metres wide for four lanes. The project is expected to be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) form in the two phases.

Land clearance stalls Sai Gon Safari Park

Land clearance delays have put the Sai Gon Safari Park Project, once expected to become the country's largest ecotourism facility, on hold. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allocated 485 ha of land for the project in 2004. It also asked the Sai Gon Zoo and Botanic Garden to carry out land clearance and resettlement for more than 700 households in An Nhon Tay and Phu My Hung communes in the city's Cu Chi District.
