Soccer: Vietnam win Asean title thanks to Anh Duc volley

Vietnam won the Asean Football Federation Championship for the first time in a decade as Nguyen Anh Duc’s volley secured a 1-0 win over Malaysia in the second leg of the final in Hanoi on Saturday for a 3-2 aggregate triumph. Vietnam will next feature at the finals of the Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates in January, where Park and his players have been drawn to face Iran, Iraq and Yemen.

 

 

Vietnam welcomes 15 millionth international tourist in a year for the first time

At 10.30 a.m on December 19 American James Copernicus became the 15 millionth foreigner to arrive in Vietnam this year. Copernicus arrived along with 2,000 other passengers by Celebrity Millennium owned by the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, one of the world’s top luxury cruise ships, in Ha Long Bay, northern Quang Ninh Province.

 

Khaisilk transfers rights to two luxury properties

Hoang Khai, owner of the premier Vietnamese silk brand Khaisilk, which was forced to shut down all of its outlets last year following prosecution for trade fraud, has transferred the rights to manage and operate the Cham Charm restaurant and TajmaSago castle at 2 and 6 Phan Van Chuong Street in HCMC’s District 7 to Chloe Hospitality Group.


 

 

Construction on Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressway to start in 2023

Cuu Long Corporation for Investment Development and Project Management of Infrastructure has proposed the Ministry of Transport allow it to develop the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressway under the public-private partnership (PPP) format, Sai Gon Giai Phong news site reported. If approved, the project should start construction in 2023 for completion in 2026.

Haidilao hot pot to make Vietnam debut

Chinese hot-pot chain Haidilao is to open its first outlet in Vietnam. The outlet is located on the second floor of the 68-story Bitexco building in HCMC. Without revealing the opening date, the company has been recruiting office staff and restaurant crews for its Vietnam debut.

HCMC cancels decision to recall prime land site in Dist. 1

As recommended by the Ministry of Public Security, the HCMC government on December 18 canceled its previous decision to recall some 5,000 square meters of land at 8-12 Le Duan Boulevard in District 1, a prime location in the central business district, the local media reported. The ministry is still investigating the illegal leasing and transfer of the site, with many former and incumbent municipal officials. Land at the site is the material evidence in the case.

 

 

France’s Total considers US$1.2-billion LNG-power complex project in Vietnam

Total is expected to team up with other partners, including Siemens (Germany), Novatek (Russia) and Vietnam’s A&A Technology and Investment Company for the project with a total power-generating capacity of 4,500 MW. France’s world leading energy operator Total is considering a US$1.2-billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) and power complex project in Vietnam’s central province of Ninh Thuan, according to Vietnam Investment Review.
