Vietnam: VinaCapital offloads stake in township project, earns $15.8m net proceeds

VinaLand Limited, the direct real estate investment arm of Vietnam’s asset management firm VinaCapital, has offloaded its entire stake in Phu Hoi City, a township project located in southern Dong Nai province, earning $15.8 million net proceeds. The cash has been collected in full, the fund said, in an announcement on Wednesday. VinaLand revealed the divestment of the project was worth a total valuation that is 2 per cent over the 30 September 2017 unaudited net asset value. In a separate report, the real estate vehicle said Phu Hoi City accounted for 9.7 per cent of its NAV, which was around $22 million out of $227.4 million.

McDonald’s Vietnam is set to open its first store in Hanoi. 
Good Day Company, the McDonald’s Vietnam licensee, has yet to set the opening date, but banners announcing its arrival have appeared on a building at No 2 Hang Bai Street, in the Hoan Kiem district. The northern expansion has been in planning since early 2016. At a recent company conference, Good Day’s general director Nguyen Bao Hoang revealed the company was seeking staff to help it expand to the capital city and other northern markets in the future.

Vietnam: Vincom Retail raises $740m from GIC, Templeton, HSBC, others in IPO

Vincom Retail, the shopping mall operator under Vietnam’s leading property developer Vingroup, has completed its $740 million initial equity offering and made its debut on the HCMC Stock Exchange (HOSE). The company said on Tuesday that it had sold approximately 415 million shares, or 21.8 per cent of the total issued shares, raising $740 million in Vietnam’s largest ever equity deal. On a combined basis, the subscription to Vincom Retail’s initial offering amounted to over $2 billion, the firm revealed on Tuesday. Shares are expected to be delivered to investors’ accounts at the close of business on November 9, 2017 and investors will be free to trade those shares from November 10, 2017.
