UNIQLO to open first Vietnam store this year

Japanese global apparel retailer UNIQLO has announced that its first store in Vietnam will be located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 and open later this year. Situated on the corner of Le Thanh Ton and Dong Khoi, UNIQLO Dong Khoi will be at the front of the Parkson Saigon Tourist Plaza mall, one of the city’s most famous storefronts, and promises to become a new focal point in one of the city’s liveliest shopping zones. As one of the largest UNIQLO stores in Southeast Asia, UNIQLO Dong Khoi will feature over 3,000 sq m of sales floor area, with a full global lineup of LifeWear for men, women, and kids on three levels, providing a magnetic UNIQLO store experience for local people and international visitors.

Work to start on $237-million southern expressway in 2021


The Ministry of Transport has completed a pre-feasibility study for a VND5.5 trillion ($237 million) expressway between Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces. The 28-kilometer An Huu-Cao Lanh Expressway, with four lanes in the first phase and six in the second, will begin from the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway, a major project under construction in Tien Giang, and run northwest to Cao Lanh, the capital of Dong Thap. Construction is set to begin in 2021 and finish in 2025 with public funding.




Viet Nam-Singapore IPs lure more than $8.52b

Nine Viet Nam-Singapore industrial parks (VSIPs) nationwide have to date attracted 553 foreign-invested projects with capital totalling more than US$8.52 billion. Over the past nine months, the inflow of foreign direct investment into VSIPs saw a significant increase of 80 per cent to $696.2 million or nearly doubling the yearly target, the online newspaper congthuong.vn cited the VSIP management board as saying.

The Hoang Van Thu Bridge, which links the city center with a new urban area to the north of the Cam River, is officially open to traffic after 33 months of building, beginning in 2016. The VND2,173 billion (US$94.4 million) bridge was entirely funded with the municipal budget.




Saigon Co.op to develop Sense City in hi-tech park


Sense City District 9, also known as Sense City East Saigon, will be located on the axis road D2 in the hi-tech park, with a total floor area covering over 50,000 square meters. The facility will include four stories and one basement. Saigon Co.op, Saigon Co.op Investment Development JSC (SCID) and the East Saigon DSG will jointly put the shopping mall into service in the third quarter of next year.
