Projects to ease traffic jam sluggishly implemented in HCMC

Rampant traffic jam keeps occurring in the entrance gateways to HCMC, especially areas surrounding Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Mien Dong (East) Coach Station in days near Tet holiday every year. EU lawmakers give initial backing to Vietnam trade deal

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – EU lawmakers gave initial backing on Tuesday for a free trade agreement struck with Vietnam, the bloc’s most comprehensive such pact with a developing country and a sign that Europe has an appetite for a more expansive trade policy.



CPI in January hits record high in recent 7 years



Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) in January hit a record high, up 1.23 percent over the previous month and 6.43 percent year on year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The duo acquired 80 per cent in the second phase of the Grand Park project, a township development located in District 9, HCMC, according to an announcement.

Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific have become the latest Vietnamese carriers to change schedules of flights linking the country with China in the face of the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV).




Delivery services to grow 30-40 percent in 2020

The logistics sector is forecast to continue growing strongly this year, with expansion in both retail and e-commerce channels. The agency also estimated that delivery services would record a revenue growth of 30-40 percent, with the market growing 20 percent and large companies taking a bigger share.

The Vietnam’s stock brokerage market share has experienced big change due to the strong participation of foreign securities companies, especially of Korea-invested ones.

 At an event to unveil the WB’s Vietnam Development Report 2019, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said although the city has taken leading steps in development connectivity, the size of its economy remains modest with 58 billion USD. Therefore, despite a high annual growth rate, the local economy still lags far behind those of big cities in the region.
