Vietnam not ready to reopen doors to foreign tourists: PM

Vietnam is not yet ready to open up to international tourists, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Wednesday. The top priority for the government is protecting people’s health, he said at a government meeting in Hanoi. Phuc ordered relevant agencies to not let a second wave of coronavirus break out in Vietnam and safeguard the outstanding performance of the country in the fight against the pandemic.

Saigon metro line 2 land acquisition falls behind schedule

Land acquisition for the second metro line in Saigon is falling behind schedule, and this could delay construction set to begin next year. Some 40-50 percent of land in the six districts the Ben Thanh – Tham Luong metro route runs through has not been handed over yet though the deadline is June 30, director of the line, Le Van Khoa, said on Thursday. In July clearance of the lands is scheduled to begin to enable the start of construction next year.



Despite Covid-19 pandemic, M&A deals increase

EVFTA promises an enhanced Vietnam

The National Assembly has passed the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement, ushering in a new economic, trade, and investment co-operation outlook for both Vietnam and the EU. Vietnam lures US$6 billion FDI into industrial parks

Nearly US$6 billion in foreign direct investment was poured into Vietnam’s industrial parks (IPs), processing zones and economic zones (Ezs) in the first half of the year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). The ministry said Vietnam attracted 335 FDI projects in the period. The country has welcomed a total of 9,835 with registered capital of $197.8 billion so far. The disbursement capital at IPs and EZs reached 72.3 per cent of the total.


Hanoi prohibits using the first floor of resettlement houses for business

The city’s People's Committee has assigned authorities in districts, wards and towns to use the first floors of resettlement apartments under State possession for community activities, which are managed and reported in accordance with public asset policies. Previously, many apartments leased their first floor for trading purpose without the approval of the municipal People's Committee.



Dong Nai to develop smart urban area near new airport

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged Dong Nai Province to speed up the progress of the Long Thanh International Airport and create a “comprehensive plan” to develop smart urban areas around the proposed airport. At a recent meeting, Phúc said that capital disbursement, as well as site clearance, compensation and resettlement for affected households should be accelerated so that construction of the airport can begin next year.
